5 Desserts to Enjoy at Universal Studios Hollywood

Having grown up in Los Angeles, Universal Studios Hollywood has been a part of my life from a very early age. My family would go once a year together enjoying E.T. the ride and of course the Studio Tour. During middle school I would always (with the help of my family of course) sell just enough chocolate bars during chocolate fundraising season to win the ultimate prize of a day at Universal Studios with only a handful of fellow classmates while everyone else was stuck at school. Then the park went through some changes re-imagining attractions which brought the likes of Simpsons Land and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Now in adulthood I find myself in the habit again of regular trips to the park. So much has changed and it’s so fun to remember what used to exist and enjoy new attractions. The one thing that I really enjoy about this new Universal Studios is definitely the food options!

Here are my picks for five best desserts when visiting Universal Studios Hollywood.

 Donuts

If you’ve been reading this blog for a while you already know that I am a donut lover. So one of my go-to spots at the park is definitely Lard Lad Donuts. They are so cartoonishly fun in their giant size, but there are regular size donuts available too. But my suggestion would be to get the giant pink Homer Simpson D’oh nut. It’s like a big donut cake with thick pink frosting and rainbow sprinkles. At only $5 it’s a steal and you can enjoy it with a friend of two.

Soft Serve

While you are in Springfield don’t miss Phineaus Q. Butterfat’s soft serve stand. It is directly across from Lard Lard and it is swirls up some really tasty frozen treats. Opt for a soft serve cone or one of the special sundaes. When it’s available you can kill two birds with one stone by getting the donut ice cream sundae.

Butterbeer

When in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter of course you’ve got to try the Butterbeer at least once. There are a few different options, but in my humble opinion I think the frozen Butterbeer is best. It’s a butterscotch cream soda slushie. Sure it’s sweet so probably best to share this with friends and save room for more treats to come.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

While you are in WWHP stop into the Three Broomsticks for a proper meal. The menu is fashioned after a British pub with fish and chips, Guiness lamb stew, and bangers and mash. All great options and of course the best part is dessert. While they have several options available the best one is their Sticky Toffee Pudding. Served warm and a la mode it is a sweet finish to the meal.

Still have a hankering for something sweet on your way out? Well you have two great options and both are theme park classic desserts you can find on the path towards the exit. Right next to the center court you can find a Dippin’ Dots cart that is usually open late. Banana split frozen beads of ice cream anyone? Looking for something a little more decadent? Then stop off at the Hollywood Grill the first café when you enter the park. Here you can find funnel cake. Topped with powdered sugar or strawberry compote it’s a nostalgic delight.
