A lot of people have already headed back to school, but this weekend is the official end to summer. So what better way to say farewell to summer than by celebrating with the quintessential summer sweet – s’mores. Great by the campfire, at an outdoor movie screening, or just on your couch, s’mores are nostalgic goodness that everyone loves. We’re sharing some super special s’mores treats to help you get that one last bite of summer.

Gotta Have S’more
Gotta Have S’more is a local s’mores only bakery on Fairfax in Los Angeles. These little treats are a fun new take on the traditional campfire s’more. This gooey marshmallow-topped dessert is made fresh daily with house-made graham cracker and a thick chocolate base. Flavors range from milk and dark chocolate, to salted caramel, peanut butter cup, and cookies and cream. Seasonal flavors include PB and jelly, spicy Mexican hot chocolate, pumpkin pie, and espresso bean.

Cake Monkey Bakery
Lisa Olin & Pastry Chef Elizabeth Belkind’s acclaimed LA-based bakery & brand opened their second shop in Westlake Village Friday, 8/31. Known for their whimsical, updated takes on nostalgic childhood snack treats (think Ding Dongs, Hos Hos, and the like), the duo will offer cakes, pies, mini layer cakes, pastries, and said snack treats — along with new breakfast and lunch items unique to the new location (like a housemade, Chocolate Hazelnut Babka French Toast). But we’re here for the Inside Out S’more, housemade graham cracker and chocolate ganache sandwiches topped with toasted marshmallow. It’s the perfect bite!

Dominque Ansel
The Frozen S’more is a creation by Dominique Ansel, James Beard Award-winning pastry chef, recently named the World’s Best Pastry Chef by the World’s 50 Best awards. It’s an ice cream version of a s’more, with a Tahitian vanilla ice cream center surrounded by crisp chocolate feuilletine, wrapped in honey marshmallow, and torched to order on a smoked willow wood branch for that campfire goodness. It first launched at Dominique Ansel Bakery in NYC (Chef’s original shop in Soho). It’s now available at his brand new Los Angeles shop, Dominique Ansel Bakery Los Angeles, which opened at The Grove last fall 2017.
