Check out the link below for my full KTLA segment full of donuts!
National Donut Day was originally established in 1938 by the Chicago Salvation Army to honor women who served donuts to soldiers during World War I. The doughnuts were often cooked in oil inside the metal helmets of American soldiers and the American infantrymen were then commonly called “doughboys.” A more standard spelling is donut. Donut or Doughnut, the holiday celebrating fried dough is always on the first Friday of June.
I celebrate Donut Day weekly, but for the rest of you Friday June 1st is a great excuse to buy a dozen for the office or just yourself for that matter! Many donut shops across SoCal are offering free donuts or donut specials so DONUT MISS OUT!
