Holiday Gift Ideas for Foodies

I was back on KTLA Morning News today sharing some ideas for gifts for the food lover in your life. You can watch the full segment below and read the round-up of great sweet and savory gifts for foodies below!

Holiday Gifts for Foodies

The foodie mecca Eataly just opened up shop in LA at the Westfield Century City and they carry an amazing selection of local LA artisans so it’s a great place to put together a custom gift to for your favorite food friend. What I’ve made here is a DIY Risotto Kit using my personal favorite LA broth company Brothee. Pair their vegan wild mushroom broth with risotto rice, parmesan, fresh mushrooms, garlic and herbs and you have a lovely gift and even better dinner!

This gift basket from LA staple Joans on Third is a this treasure trove and has something for everyone. Spiced classics, indulgent confections, and Joan’s on Third wine come together make for a gift any food lover would enjoy. You can order baskets online or by calling or you can create a custom basket at their shops.

Everyone needs a Gingerbread Cookie Kit this holiday season and Sugar Fairy Desserts makes the perfect set. This local baker offers amazing baked to order sweets treats, my favorite of which are their cookie decorating kits. These gingerbread people are delicious and they come with homemade buttercream, sprinkles, pastry bags and decorating tips making for a fun activity for your holiday party with friends or family. Call to order!

The sweet tooth in your life needs a box of nostalgic sweet treats from Cake Monkey Bakery this holiday season. This sweet gift includes Cake Monkey Bakery favorites like Pop Pies, Cakewiches (their gourmet take on nostalgic treats) and more. You can order online or by phone.

Here we have some great cookbooks from local LA authors. This gift isn’t edible, but it’s got some amazing recipes, photos, and stories that will certainly make you hungry.

Opa! Healthy Green Cookbook from chef and culinary writer Christina Xenos co-written with Theo Stephan is a healthy modern take on traditional green recipes. I particularly love the dessert recipe in here and they are all made with extra virgin olive oil instead of butter.

LA Mexicano from James Beard award winning writer and the lead authority on Latin American cuisines in the United States Bill Esparza. This book is a love letter to Mexican culture in LA and features recipes from chefs, cooks, and restaurateurs across the city.

The Sprinkes Baking Book as you can imagine from the name this book holds recipes from the beloved LA cupcake bakery Sprinkles. But surprisingly it also shares founders and pastry chef Candace Nelson’s cake, pie, cookie and bar recipes too!

I love Eataly! Every time we go to Chicago, that’s the first place we go. It’s only a 20 minute walk from the train station. Not too hard but enough walking to justify a visit to the Nutella bar.

Sweet Somethings:
