Winter is coming, which means skiing season is upon us! In addition to the range of slopes, there are numerous national parks with beautiful hikes and stunning views. The Vail Pass has the most iconic views of the Colorado Rocky Mountains, and just down the street are the beautiful crystal-clear waters of Lake Dillon Dam. The Beaver Creek area in Colorado is beautiful during every season, but is my favorite place for a ski trip getaway.
WHERE TO STAY – Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch
The grand lodge architectural style of the Ritz exudes authentic Rocky Mountain luxury and captures the essence of the surrounding national forest. Colorado’s premier luxury ski resort looks like a gingerbread house and provides endless amenities. Land one of their suites and enjoy their cozy living spaces and stunning views off of the attached balcony.
WHAT TO DO
Being in Beaver Creek, right in the heart of some of the best skiing in the country, you have to spend the day skiing and boarding. Whether you’re a first-timer or the black diamond slope is your home, Bachelor Gulch offers a Ski Concierge service that will get you all set up with your equipment ready for your daily adventures. If you’re looking for something off the slopes, spend the day at the Ritz. Take an early bird guided hike through the Rocky’s, treat yourself to a custom facial off of their unique spa menu, and end your day with a Painting and Pinot class.
WHERE TO EAT
Between all of this adventure, I had to refuel. I made sure to try all of the sweets in the area.
Here are the top 5 treats you must enjoy when visiting Bachelor Gulch…
Campfire S’mores – after venturing out into the snow on a snowshoe adventure, I warmed up by the campfire and satisfied my sweet tooth with s’mores.
Summit (Carrot) Cake – The details of this carrot summit cake at the Ritz sums up the picturesque backdrop of Beaver Creek. Powdered sugar snow, dehydrated candies carrot slopes, and an altitude marking flag to boot makes it maybe the cutest carrot cake I’ve seen!
Pecan Pie Macarons– The pastry team at Bachelor Gulch’s new restaurant, Wyld, have nailed this cookie! IT was a perfect combination of two of my faves- pie and macarons.
Donuts– On your way to the hotel, make sure to stop by the Northside Kitchen, a small bakery in Avon that makes delicious red velvet donuts!
Ice Cream– While strolling through the quaint streets of Vail, I stumbled upon Joe’s Deli. Their mud pie has a cappuccino flavor base stuffed with chocolate chip cookies and marshmallows- even in the cold weather it hit the spot!
