Fun and Festive Halloween Sweet Treats in LA

It’s Halloween week! And while I’m a fan of candy in all shapes and sizes I do love a good Halloween inspired treat that goes beyond your classic mini bags of skittles. So for my Halloween loving Angelenos here are some festive treats for your Halloween parties, work place pals and even trick-or-treaters if you’re feeling generous.

Halloween-themed Mini Cakes, Ghost Cakewiches, and Mummy Cupcakes at Cake Monkey

Pastry chef Elizabeth Belkind is whipping up a slew of Halloween-themed confections at this beloved Beverly Grove bakery, including adorable mini cakes decorated with spider webs and pumpkins; cakewiches (their signature riffs on Ho Hos) topped with marshmallow ghosts, and mummified cupcakes with fondant bandages and eyes.

Ghost “Poops” at FrankieLucy Bakeshop

The petite coffee and dessert shop’s signature Unicorn Poops (meringues with rainbow sprinkles) have turned ghoulish in honor of Halloween. Instead of multi-colored adornments, you’ll find the $1 treats spookily dressed to look like ghosts. Paired with their seasonal Salted Caramel Kabocha Pumpkin Latte, it makes for the perfect holiday indulgence.

Creepy Crawly Critters Ice Cream at Salt & Straw

A part of the taste-provoking creamery’s annual “Spooktacular” series, this grass-green matcha ice cream is spiked with zesty orange and laced with, yes — swarms of real dark chocolate covered crickets and coconut toffee-brittle mealworms. Additional frightful selections in this month’s bone-chilling, five flavor lineup include Dracula’s Blood Pudding (made with real blood pudding!), Essence of Ghost, The Great Candycopia, and Freckle & Hyde Potion, all available by the scoop or pint.

Scary Terere at American Tea Room

The specialty tea shop/cafe’s signature Green Tea Terere (a mixture of green and white tea and sweet matcha, layered with lime and orange juice) id going creepy with an infusion of activated charcoal. Available starting Oct. 23 for $6.66 at both LA locations, the pitch black drink is also adorned with a gummy eyeball for an extra dose of fright every time you take a sip.

Scary Macarons at The Village Bakery and Cafe

The Village Bakery is always one for festive holiday treats. They are the perfect go to for any holiday with their decorated cookies, cupcakes and treats. For Halloween they are offering the cutest macarons with decorate for Halloween as ghosts, ghouls, mummies and more. A scary-cute way to enjoy these petite treats.

Candy Corn Soft Serve Swirled with Midnight Chocolate at Magpies Softserve

My favorite softserve shop in LA has some fun new flavors just in time for Halloween. The combination of candy corn and midnight chocolate is the perfect orange and black that Halloween dreams are made of. It tastes just like your favorite halloween candies, but in soft serve form so skip the pillow case and grab a spoon.
