It’s March 14th so you know what that means – Pi Day!
I know this is really in reference to this pi π. not the tasty sweet treat kind, but hey I’m all about the sweeter side of life and we’ll take any excuse to enjoy a slice of pie. Are you with me?
I’ve put together a list of some of my favorite places to celebrate Pi Day in Los Angeles (click to read the full article). There are plenty of other great cities to enjoy pie too so feel free to leave me a comment on Instagram if you are looking for a great slice in your city!
Cassell’s Hamburgers has a rotating selection of pies that are as good as their awesome burgers. I generally go for the banana dulce de leche or their incredible lemon custard with chocolate shavings!
Clementine is just all around delicious. If you are looking for a banana cream pie, this is where you go. If you love a good thick graham cracker crust this is definitely the spot for you. Perfect crust to filling ratio.
Simple Things has big pies, little pies, medium sized pies – something for everyone. They have regular menu options and daily specials so check their menu if you are looking for something specific. My rec is the salted caramel, mmm mmm good.
Apple Pan is an LA staple. Great burgers, nostalgic counter seat dining and you can wash it all down with a classic piece of pie. Coconut cream and banana cream and my top picks.
Brite Spot, Echo Park’s iconic diner on Sunset Blvd. makes a mean pie. Their bakery case is filled with a handful of selections daily, with slices as big as your face. They have everything from classic apple to a killer honey whiskey.
Fishing with Dynamite may be known for their incredible seafood and raw bar offerings, but I guarantee a meal isn’t complete without their key lime pie. It is equal parts beautiful and delicious. Regulars at FWD will agree and you should definitely find out what all the fuss is about.
Sambar if you are looking to enjoy pie out of the realm of your standard fruit filled pastry crust or graham filled cream centers, how about this coffee ice cream pie from Sambar in Culver City. It is just as decadent as it looks and worth all those calories.
