I don’t know if you have heard, but got milk? has a super fun campaign going on right now! They have released a guide of the best milk-based recipes from across the Golden State. With recipes ranging from a rich mac and cheese to an ice cream with a jalapeño kick, all the featured recipes showcase milk’s versatility and ability to complement a variety of flavor profiles.
In Los Angeles, Artesana Pops created a Greek Yogurt and Raspberry pop to highlight fresh ingredients with milk as their base. Inspired by Artesana, I have partnered with got milk? to come up with my own milk based popsicle.
Because I am trying to hold on to summer, my recipe is an ode to summer – Blueberry Piesicles. It has fresh blueberries, brown sugar, cream, greek yogurt for a tang, a graham cracker base and of course some whole milk. It is indulgent while remaining light and refreshing. A mix of sweet, tart, creamy and crunchy it is everything I love about summer pies packing into an easy to eat frozen treat.

¾ cup whole milk
¼ cup brown sugar + 2 tablespoons for blueberries
¼ heavy cream
1 container blueberry Icelandic or Greek Yogurt (I like Smari)
1.5 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 small container fresh blueberries
2 tablespoons honey
2 graham crackers crumbled
- Combine blueberries, honey and 2 tablespoons brown sugar in a bowl. Pour onto a lined sheet pan and bake at 400 degrees for 5-10 minutes until the blueberries roast and release liquid. Remove from oven and allow to cool.
- Combine yogurt, milk, ¼ cup brown sugar, cream, cornstarch and vanilla in a medium pot over medium-high heat. Heat mixture until it comes to a simmer, whisking frequently. Once mixture simmers, continue whisking for another few minutes until mixture thickens. Remove from heat and allow to cool.
- Once cooled pour mixture into a measuring cup for easy pouring into pop mold.
- Add a layer of roasted blueberries into pop mold. Next add a layer of milk mixture about ¾ of the way full. Add another layer of blueberries and gently stir with a knife. Top off with milk mixture and a coating of graham crumbles.
- Cover popsicles and insert wooden sticks.
- Freeze overnight.
- To remove pops from mold, run warm water on the outside of the mold for 30 seconds to a minute to loosen.
- Remove from mold and enjoy!
