Creme Caramel LA – A Love Story

Creme Caramel LA is the best and the worst thing that has ever happened to me. I first caught wind of Creme Caramel LA from the most recent Eat My Blog charity bakesale. My friend Cathy of Gastronomy Blog posted the most mouth-watering picture of their bacon bread pudding and it was all over. I started desperately tweeting trying to figure out where I could find this dessert that looked too good for words. Then, Kristine de la Cruz (the owner of Creme Caramel LA) tweeted back to me! She told me that they would  soon be serving up their decadently sweet treats at the Melrose Place Farmers Market on Sundays.

I patiently waited for Creme Caramel LA’s debut at the famers market. When the day finally came, I went to the farmers market, me Miss Kristine in person and made my first purchase – one original creme caramel. That was my first mistake, well that and having ever bought this incredible dessert to begin with. After the first creamy, rich bite I was hooked, no sold, no I was a fan for life! And then I was super sad, me and R had devoured this little treasure and there was no more. I would have to wait another week to get more. Why did I only buy 1???

I cannot wax poetic enough about Creme Caramel LA. From their sinfully delicious bacon bread pudding to their creme caramels, everything they are baking up is sheer blissful heavenly delights. The creme caramels  are precisely calibrated with the right amount of caramel flavor delicately woven throughout a velvety thick vanilla custard. It is supremely creamy and incandesent.

If after all that you still don’t believe me, go pick one up for yourself and I guarantee you will fall in love the way I did (well that is unless you don’t like flan-like desserts then you won’t like this at all and you’re crazy). I have to make a confession now,  I have approximately 3 original creme caramels a week. If I can’t make it to the market I order delivery from Creme Caramel LA, yeah they deliver! Now you see clearly why this is the best and worst thing to ever happen to me and my waistline.

And did I mention that Kristine and her staff are the nicest people you will ever meet, truly. She mans her booth every weekend with a big smile and a hug if you’re lucky! This is sweetness all around.  Do yourself a favor and find Creme Caramel LA!

How does one choose between the bacon bread pudding or the creme caramel? Is that why you end up walking away with both? Ack!

LOVE your blog and also love the LA eating! I live in San Diego, so don’t get the LA goodness as often as I like. Is your food truck at the Downtown Art Walk the second Thursday of the month? 🙂

I really must try the creme caramel the next time I visit Kristine at the farmers’ market. But I’m scared now… if I have one bite, I might never be able to stop! My waistline may never recover!

I admit, I have not been on this webpage in a long time… however it was one more joy to see It is such an important topic and also ignored by so many, even professionals. I thank you to help making people more aware of doable issues.

Hey – wonderful blog, just looking around some blogs, seems a really fine platform you’re using. I’m currently using WordPress for a number of my sites but planning to change one of these over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Something in particular you would recommend about it?
